Why Your Website Isn’t Working (And What You Can Do About It)

Most small business websites aren’t doing what they’re supposed to do. They look alright from the outside, maybe the logo’s sharp and the colours match your business card, but when it comes to turning visitors into customers? That’s where it all falls flat.

Here are five reasons your website might be costing you business, and what to do instead:
1. It’s not mobile-friendly. Over 65% of UK web traffic is from mobile. If your website looks rubbish on a phone, you’re turning people off before they even read a word. Everything should scroll easily, buttons should be big enough to tap, and your info should be easy to find. Fix it!
2. It’s slow or clunky. We’ve all been there. Clicking a link, waiting five seconds, and closing it down. Your visitors are no different. If your website takes ages to load or is full of broken bits, people will go elsewhere.
3. It doesn’t say what you do (quickly). People should land on your site and know within three seconds: who you are, what you offer, and how to get in touch. If they’re having to scroll, search or guess, you’re losing them.
4. It looks outdated. You don’t need to be a design guru, but if your website looks like it hasn’t been touched since 2015, it sends the wrong message. A clean, modern layout builds trust.
5. There’s no clear call to action. Do you want people to call you? Fill out a form? Book a slot? Please, make it obvious! Don’t hide your CTA in a menu. Make it bold, clear, and repeated throughout the page.
At Livo Launch Digital, we help small businesses across Rotherham, Sheffield, Barnsley, Doncaster and Chesterfield fix these issues without over complicating things. From one-page starter sites to full rebrands, we make sure your online presence actually works for you.
If your website looks the part but isn’t bringing in leads, let’s sort it. Drop us a message and we’ll take a no-pressure look.
